I heart???

I know this post is going to come back and bite me in the butt, but I have a pet peeve, and I'm going to let er rip.

I hate HATE HATE the phrase "I heart". As in, "OMG, I heart your new shoes" or, "I heart Heather." Why do I hate this? Because I think it's lame. (Rachel, you're exempt from your recent blog, because I'll assume that you were referring to the shirt). Are we still in Middle School? LOL. No. Wait, I'll BRB....

Gah. I am pretty sure that I hate the phrase "I heart" more than just about anything. Either you love something or you don't. I'll assume that you're less sincere if you tell me that you heart me, than if you just really like me. So, don't tell me you "heart" Hazen, because my only response will be that I "frowny face" you.

Sorry I had to delete that last one because after I read it I realized I spelled everything wrong. But just so you know I have never used that phrase in my life. I can only imagine the weird looks I would get if I started throwing that into my conversations. So we can be friends.

I remember when that started & I thought it was a little cute & creative...now I as well HATE it! I really don't like when people say LOL, either... Lorin does all the time. I can imagine him sitting at work, texting me, NOT laughing out loud at all...so I agree with you. I also hate "applications" on facebook, I noticed your status change today. Haha. If I want to find out what kind of flower or Disney Character I am, I'll figure it out on my own! What are your plans next week...we should plan a day! TTYL...LYLAS! :)

Anne, I just went through our entire wall-to-wall on facebook to make sure I have never said that to you. I know I probably have said it a few times in my life, but a long time ago I stopped because I realized it was annoying and insincere. And I know I have never said it to you because I ACTUALLY DO LOVE YOU. Please don't :( me.
Heart,
Mariska

I didn't even know people said that, I guess I'm sheltered form the world.

I have NEVER heard that before. I must be out of the loop.

how funny - it must be a CA thing. I never have heard that - seriously. I think Sex and the City had a episode right after 9/11 called "I heart NY", but that's the extent of that phrase. maybe you should come and live up here in the northwest with me - you'll never hear it!

Yeah, Yeah, everyone says that they have never heard it or done it...LOL

Such anti-heartness on the eve of Valentines.

Hope it doesn't come back and byitb (bite you in the butt)

I have to agree with you. lol. It's the most annoying phrase EVER! The only thing i really really want is the shirt that says "I (heart) New York". I know. I'm an idiot, but that's the ONE place i reeeeally want to go and reeeeally want the t-shirt! lol. ANyway, i 100% second your hate for the whole "i heart you" crap! (with the New York exception of course :)

A blog is NO good, without a pet peeve rant once in a while.

(Move to Spokane, we are so backward that we get NO trends--clothes, restaurants, phrases--till a year or two after Utah!)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... You are SO FUNNY. I am pleased to say that I had no feelings of embarrassment as I read this post. I feel like I'm reporting to the principal at the office when I proudly tell you that I've never used that phrase!

I so admire your ability to be straight and up front about your likes and dislikes. I bite my tongue and wish that on occasion I would take it off it's leash.

Like Shannon, I'm totally out of the loop. I never hear people in Seattle say this. Not even the gays.

What about "I fart you." Would that work?

Griffin is for rent. Come and get him.

So hilarious, I was no joke thinking the exact same thing 2 days ago, when I read a blog about hearting something. When did it even start? Who decided that was ok?

PS: Are you kidding me?! I LOVE the Brady Bunch!

Based on the last couple of bitter posts could your favorite movie be "I heart Huckabees"

I say it as a joke sometimes to friends, but 'kids today' use it in their common language!! It totally drives me nuts! I agree with you 100%.

Mine is when people say "that's cute" or "awwww how cute," but it comes out like "KEEEEEYYYYOOOOTTT."

It drives me completely batty.

Anyways, GTG. TTYL!

Sheesh.

Pretty sure my sisters used to say that all of the time, and I too have never been a fan! Anne, I just fall in love with you more and more each day!

By the way...I don't think I will ever have a Valentine's Day when I don't think of you! I still remember what a blast you made it in our romance-less Nauvoo!
